A Vegan Review: Olive Garden

Tonight I'm going share with you my tips and tricks at eating vegan at my favorite Italian restaurant, Olive Garden! :)

First, let's talk about the appetizers, which of course means the bread sticks, the salad, and the soup.

The bread sticks are vegan, as long as they are ordered with garlic but no butter. This is a special order, but it is never a problem and they always bake them fresh. Who wouldn't love fresh out of the oven breadsticks?! I know that I do.

The salad that Olive Garden serves are vegan, as long as it is ordered with no croutons and dressing, as both contain milk. The dressing has parmesan cheese!

Finally, the Minestrone Soup is vegan and delicious. I love soup in the winter and this one pairs nicely with the breadsticks.

For my main corse, I love the spaghetti and marinara sauce. Olive garden really does marinara sauce well. I love how chunky it is.

Currently, Olive Garden is doing a buy one- take one promotion. Which of course means that you can eat twice for one price. :)

As you can see from the packaging above, the order is for a "Four Cheese and Meat Sauce", which I ask to be substituted with marinara sauce.

Do you love Olive Garden? What do you order?

A Vegan Review of Ruby Tuesday’s

So far it seems like all of the restaurants that I have showed you have ended up being fast food places. Today, I want to break this routine and talk about a nicer sit down restaurant.

A Vegan Review of Ruby Tuesday’s

Ruby Tuesday is probably most known for their salad bar, so it’s been a go to place for me to go out with my friends for quite a long time. Especially when I was in college because I could eat salad to my hearts content and my friends could order whatever non-vegan dish they wanted. It was a win-win.

Last week, on our date night, my boyfriend and I went out to Ruby Tuesfday’s beore going to see Thor. Which on a side note if you haven't seen yet, you should totally make plans to go, it was really good.

This was my order:

A Veggie Trio Combo, in which you can choose three sides, as well as soup or the salad bar. I choose the salad bar and for my sides; plain baked potato, steamed broccoli with no butter, and steamed green beans with no butter.

This is my salad, dressed with oil and vinegar. I love the salad bar, because I can change up what I want every time I get a new  plate.

This was my dinner plate, and my veggies were delicious. Though they did need some salt and pepper, since the seasoning they used was pre-mixed into the butter.

These made for a great meal that I would totally recommend, keeping in mind that you could switch up the veggies if you so chose. :)

Hit the Spot Fries!

When I am looking for a quick snack, whether it be late night or while I’m out running errands, my go to fast food snack is the Natural Cut Sea Salt French Fries from Wendy’s.  They satisfy the need for something salty, they are quick, and they are cheap. It’s the snack food tri-fecta.

If you have never tried them, you definitely should. I like to eat mine with Sweet and Sour Sauce, but they are good plain or with catsup too!

If you have tried them, do they hit the spot for you too?

As always, check us out on facebook so you can keep up with our new posts. :)

Bean & Veggie Taco

I am always on the look out for fast food restaurants that have options for actual meals. While some fast food restaurants have little things that are vegan and vegetarian, sometimes it is heard to find something that I would consider a whole meal and not a snack or junk food.

One of my favorite places to eat is Taco Bell.

My Order: A hard taco substitute beans for the beef, hold the cheese, and the sour cream.

This makes a taco filled with lettuce, beans, and tomatoes.

If you try the soft taco, try adding rice too. It’s a delicious combination.

If you try this, let me know what you think!

Also let me know if there are any other restaurants that you want to know what your vegan/ vegetarian options are, just let me know!!

Enjoy!

One Fantastic Salad!

Fast food chains have infiltrated America, and sometimes it seems like they are on every corner. Along with the traditional drive through food, some of the restaurants have begun to offer vegan or vegetarian options (which is SUPER exciting). While these options may not be widely advertised, they do exist.

I want to highlight some of these fast food chains that have vegan options, and highlight some really great meat free fast food options.

Today I want to focus on an AWESOME salad available at Chick-fil-A.

For those of you who don't know, Chick-fil-A is a fast food restaurant that is found mostly in the southern part of the United States. They are famous for their chicken sandwiches, waffle fries, and ads featuring cows pleading people to 'Eat Mor Chikin'.

I often eat at Chick-fil-A while I am on my break at work, partially because there isn’t a whole lot of choice in the mall food court and partially because I just love eating this salad.

My Order: The Grilled Market Salad Base with no Blue Cheese.

A ‘salad base’ is Chick-fil-A lingo for the salad with no chicken. By ordering this way, Chick-fil-A actually charges you less money for the salad, since you aren’t getting the chicken.

This salad is composed of a healthy mixed greens, apple slices, strawberry halves, and blueberries. In addition to all that, they give you a side of mixed nuts and a side of granola.

For dressing, Chick-fil-A recommends their Apple Cider dressing but I prefer the Berry Balsamic dressing instead as I like the way that it compliments the fresh berries.

This salad is delicious, filling, inexpensive, and easy. I would definitely recommend it.

You can click here to find the Chick-fil-A near you.

If you try this salad, I would love to know what you think!
Enjoy!
